  • Herbivores – eat only plant materials and no meat. Commercial prepared diets do need to be supplemented with organic pet food choices. In fact, most of their diet should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables instead of overly processed food. Protein for herbivores is extremely important and can be bit of a challenge. Alfalfa is a great one as it has tons of protein. Plus, it also provides calcium and fiber. Mix fresh organic fruits and veggies with alfalfa pellets for lizard food and you will have one happy critter. A word on fiber….read the label to see how much fiber is listed on the label of the commercial food you are feeding. If you lizard is fed a high-calorie, low-fiber food you can almost expect weight issues. Remember to supplement it with organic pet foods, vitamins and minerals and give your critter plenty of exercise.

  • Carnivores (meat eaters) and Omnivores (meat and veggie eaters) -- Your carnivorous lizard thrives on animal based protein…and it is equally critical for your lizard who is an omnivore to have high quality organic pet foods…such as fruits, veggies, and greens along with its animal based protein. Fresh animal protein sources include mice, live worms and crickets. Do not feed fireflies as they are toxic. Whatever your fresh animal protein source is we recommend you ask lots of questions as to how the mice, worms and crickets were raised…organically fed or stuffed full of junk food? Better yet, raise the food yourself then you can be sure that you are getting the quality you want for a great organic pet food.
  • As with herbivores it is necessary for complete pet lizard care to supplement their diets with a high quality vitamin and mineral supplement.
  • Vary food choices and avoid feeding the same food everyday.
